Caring for Carers

The STaR Association recognises that targeted information and support for carers/parents of young children with disabilities is essential.

In 2005, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead provided funding so that the STaR Association could establish the “Caring For Carers” Program. This allows us to focus on the needs of families.

Caring For Carers provides:

  • A practical and targeted information resource for parents of preschool aged children with disabilities. These include carer information sessions, lectures, workshops/group sessions and information packages;
  • Social activities and networking opportunities for carers/parents; and
  • Personal and emotional support to the carers/parents.

Next Workshops:

March 2009: School Choices

May 2009: Shared Book Reading

July 2009: Managing your Child’s Behaviour

Dates for the above workshops will be available at the beginning of 2009.

Please return to this web page for updates on new courses & workshops.
