The STaR Project
The STaR Project is funded by the Australian government's "Early Childhood
- Invest To Grow" initiative, with a contribution from the Integration
Support Program, administered by the NSW Department of Education and Training
(DET), to provide a developmental and educational model for 0-5 year old
children with disabilities/developmental delays in community based childcare
centres.
The aim of the STaR project is to:
- support children with disabilities achieve optimal development
in inclusive childcare settings;
- train and support childcare centre
staff in developing and implementing appropriate programs and
activities for children with disabilities/developmental
delays;
- support the families of children with disabilities/developmental
delays through the provision of education, respite and the opportunity
to access
social support from other families of children with disabilities/developmental
delays;
- prepare children with disabilities, and their families for the transition
to their next educational environment
- develop and evaluate a
model of education, for children with disabilities and their
families, that is cost
effective and
accessible.

Participating Centres
We are currently supporting 8 childcare centres across Sydney; 3 centres
in the Penrith region, 2 in the Blacktown region, 2 in the Ryde region
and 1 in Croydon.
