MyTime Peer Support Group

MyTime is a Peer Support Group for parents and carers of children with a disability, developmental delay, or chronic medical condition. It provides a supportive and relaxed space to connect with others who understand the experiences and responsibilities of caring for a child with additional needs. The peer support group allows parents and carers to share ideas, socialise, and find local supports, all while their children engage in play-based activities with a qualified play helper.

MyTime is open to all parents and family carers of children under 18 who require a higher level of care than typically developing children. This might be due to disability, developmental delay, a chronic medical condition, or other additional needs.

The Peer Support Group is for both parents/carers and their children. A formal diagnosis is not needed to attend. If you have developmental concerns in one or two areas, you’re very welcome to come along and see whether MyTime is the right fit for your family.

MyTime is a relaxed and supportive space where parents and carers can connect with others who understand their experiences. Sessions are parent-led, meaning you choose what you’d like to talk about or focus on. A trained facilitator is there to guide discussions, provide resources, and help you find local supports.

At the same time, a play helper (who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education) engages your child in meaningful, play-based activities. This gives you the chance to catch your breath, enjoy a cuppa, and connect with other adults.

No, MyTime is free of charge for all families in NSW. It’s a great way to meet other parents and carers, access support and share experiences at no cost.
