When your child is enrolled in the STaR Program these free events are for you! Only STaR families can attend.
1) STaR Family Get-together
A discussion based gathering, informal yet supportive, for the parents and guardians in STaR families. It is led by our Manager of Families & Education, our Special Educators and our CEO.
Held each year in February, it welcomes new and existing STaR families into the new year, covering topics such as:
- relationship building
- managing expectations in the real world of childcare
- being a parent vs being your child’s therapist
- family network support
- our Transition to School program.
This 2-hour gathering is held after work hours for adults only and is not appropriate for children to attend. To attend, a family must be currently enrolled in the STaR Program.
2) Transition to School Meeting
A 2-hour information and planning session held in March of the year before your child is due to start school. It is designed to assist your own understanding and decision making as you prepare for this very important milestone.
Organising your child’s transition to school involves key tasks over months, and it is vital that you start planning with us early. We will give you information and lots of support.
Topics discussed include:
- How do I choose a school for my child?
- What can I expect of my child’s school?
- How do I enrol my child at school?
Attendance is compulsory if your child will start school next year.
